I recently had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with the talented Apollo Brown on a promotional video for his new drum kit, set to be released by The Drum Brokers. Apollo Brown brought his vision to the table with a well-crafted script that infused the promo with a genuine and unique vibe. It’s clear that this project is a significant milestone in his career, adding a new dimension to his impressive legacy.
For this promo, Apollo chose the beats, and my role was to arrange them in a way that enhanced the storytelling. The concept was refreshingly simple yet effective: we took a journey from a local record store to the studio. This allowed us to showcase both the creative process and the vibrant energy of Detroit.
My part in the project involved weaving together the visuals and editing to bring Apollo’s script to life. Each scene, from the record store to the studio, was carefully crafted to reflect the essence of the city and Apollo’s artistic vision. It was pretty straight forward concept, a routine Apollo has done many times himself, but go from the record store to the studio to chop the newly found sounds and samples. I was able to apply some filming techniques as we ventured around the city.
It was an honor to be part of this marketing initiative and to contribute to the promotion of such a remarkable drum kit. I’m genuinely excited about how it all turned out and hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed creating it. Working with Apollo Brown on this project was a fantastic experience, and I’m proud to have played a role in highlighting his new release.
